i've been looking for a great pair of boots, and i've found some amazing stuff, but it is all way out of my price range.
i know that there is the option of just covering a pair of normal boots, but i did that last year and i hated how it came out. hated it!
i was stomping around in what looked like a pair of teddy bears. UGH!
i've looked at Son of Sandlar, but i am not thrilled with their products or prices. ebay turned up no results, etsy only had some suede "elf boots" which just look like tall old man shoes to me, renboots.com has some boots i love but they are $300.. and the best boots i have ever seen in my entire life? www.turtleislandmoccs.com/kneeh...s.html but $600-$800 is insanity for me.
yes, i know they will last me my entire life. i also know they are handmade. i know it is too much to hope somebody has a pair of plain black knee high moccs in my size who has decided to give up dressing up for faires etc.
so i am now looking to settle. for now. i am looking for a cheap (as in money, not quality) pair of boots that are not laced up like normal boots. no doc marten's laces. the once where it wraps around a button would be cool, but i know i cant afford those. the pair of boots from renboots.com are knee high and have a bunch of awesome buckles- renboots.com/StriderBuckle.html
and i looked at scaboots and dont really like their stuff either.. i cant do the pull on boots.
does anybody know of any companies with better but not wicked expensive boots? or is there a garb trading tribe or website that i havnt heard of?
i'd be willing to trade my handmade jewelry for some boots, and if i had found the boots a few months ago i could have bought them then, but i just quit my job and i am in the process of moving.(short on money)
ideally something under 200. any ideas?
thanks

Re: footwear- not for fighting
Fri, November 13, 2009 - 7:51 PMI am a Classical Chinese dancer. And, with Tibetian and Mongolian dances we are required to wear boots for the dances.. Here are some
samples of the boots from this one Chinese Opera dance company. Their stuff is expensive, but made very well. I have ordered a lot of stuff from them over the years. The cloth boots fit nicely, and easy to dance in. I am flatted footed, and had to put arch supports in the
boots, and I still had plenty of comfortable footroom in the boot. Besides, dancing, I found the cloth boot to be nice for general walking around at event. Their stuff is below $200, and if you use Fed-X, shipping is free.

Black laceup boots $140.00 (this boot is my next purchase, the soles are like chinese maryjanes.) I just loves these lace up boots, I can see myself dancing very easily around a campfire in those boots, plus easily walking around an event. :)

Traditional Chinese Hand Embroidery Cloth Shoes $99.00

Handmade Flower Embroidery Boots $125.00
www.china-cart.com/a.asp=Trad...pper&d=9623
Traditional Handmade Lotus Slipper $75.00 (I think this slipper is really pretty, but I can easily do this to any slipper on my own) Even though they aren't boots, they are just to pretty not to share. :)
I hope this gives you some ideas,
good luck,

Re: footwear- not for fighting
Fri, November 13, 2009 - 8:54 PMA nice looking pair which I found today on ebay ...
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
They've been sold already - but they're very cool looking (in my opinion) ... and you could always contact the seller to find out if they'll make a custom pair for you (definately not as pricey as the $300 pair you were looking at)
