My household sister is exploring a new persona that celebrates her Sephardic Jewish heritage. She is very taken by some of the textiles used by Yemeni Jews in period (southern Arabic Penn.). She's thinking of creating a persona that allows her to incorporate that--maybe she's from a family originally from Yemen that moved to the Ottoman Empire after the 1492 Dispora.
I know that Jews in the Ottoman Empire and Yemen basically wore what everyone else wore, but I have no idea what that is! Does anyone know of any good resources of info on Ottoman/Yemeni clothing in the 16th century?

Re: Sephardic/Ottoman Jewish garb
Tue, June 10, 2008 - 11:04 AMOne website I found that has some good information:
www.kismeta.com/diGrasse/O...atterns.htm
This is more for Ottoman Empire stuff rather than Sephartic, but I would hope you / your friend can find something useful there. -
